WHAT/WHERE IS THE BAC SHOP?
The Shop is located in the basement of 320 Newbury Street and is appropriate for milling and shaping wood and other non-metallic materails. It features a full suite of power and hand tools, including:
- 10″ table saw with fence
- 3-Blade Counter-Top Planer
- Band Saw
- Drill Press
- Benchtop Disc Sanders
- Jointer
- Rasps
- Hand Saws
- Orbital Sanders
- Chisels

THE SHOP MANUAL
We are developing a Woodshop Manual to help you orient yourself to the logistics and workflow of shop operations at the BAC. Please take the time to review the manual – Woodshop Monitors will refer to it often!

CONTACT + SCHEDULING
Kyle Sturgeon is the BAC’s fabrication labs coordinator (CNC and Woodshop). The Woodshop is available by to all BAC students and Faculty after they have successfully completed a safety orientation. All questions/concerns should be sent to shop@the-bac.edu.

MONITORS/HOURS OF OPERATION
The woodshop is operated by highly trained staff who are able to assist you with your project and keep you safe. It is a good idea to visit the woodshop early to discuss your project in advance of purchasing expensive materials.

Monday: Open to Furniture Studio Only
Tuesday: 6am – 10pm w/ Paul Diaz, James Dean
Wednesday: CLOSED
Thursday: 6pm – 10pm w/ Andrew Shelburne, James Dean
Friday: 10am – 5pm w/ Nicholas Kuhl
Saturday: 10am – 5pm w/ David Morgan, James Dean
Sunday: 5pm – 9pm w/ Christopher Boucher

Have questions about the Wood Shop? Email shop@the-bac.edu. All students are required to complete a safety certification, which takes place the first Saturday of every month at 10 am.
